Difficulty Shifting Trojan 114 Loader into High Range - Seeking Help and Brake Replacement Parts

Question:

I recently acquired a 1970 Trojan 114 with a backhoe attachment. While I can get it to run in 1st and 2nd gear in low range, I'm having trouble getting it to operate in high range. This is my first experience with a loader, so I'm in the process of learning a lot. Any assistance would be highly valued. Additionally, I need to address the brakes as they are currently non-existent. Does anyone know where I can find replacement parts for this equipment?

If you're looking for manuals or parts for tractors, check out the selection at http://www.tractorparts.com/misc.htm. Additionally, http://www.minnpar.com offers a variety of parts and can help locate others. Are you located in Massachusetts?

I am located in Southwick, MA, near the Connecticut border. I have recently purchased a manual and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. While browsing through minnpar.com, I encountered difficulties in locating parts for my 114 model. Could this be due to O&K's takeover and the introduction of new model numbers? I came across a post where you mentioned troubleshooting brake issues. What specific problems did you face? I am currently dealing with a complete lack of brakes, compounded by the previous owner cutting the lines to the rear brakes. I am unsure of how to proceed, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Upon receiving your book, you will find part numbers listed inside. When determining the parts you require, reach out to Minnpar by phone as the knowledgeable staff member there assisted me effectively. I was in need of seals to address oil leaks in various components such as the steering motor and dropbox. Some seals were readily available on hand, while others had to be sourced out specifically. The prices offered were very reasonable. While my brakes were operational, the master cylinder was leaking onto the cab floor. By referring to a guide I obtained, I was able to purchase a kit and successfully fix the issue. It is likely that the individual who worked on your vehicle cut certain lines due to issues such as blown out wheel cylinders. Having the book on hand makes it easier to identify the correct placements of parts. Additionally, there is a hydrovac located under the floor that also needs to be bled, with two fittings to attend to.

Thank you for your assistance. I may need to reach out for help later on. Do you happen to have any knowledge on removing a leaking gas tank? I believe if I can take it out, I can repair it. Currently, I have a 14-gallon portable tank secured to the cab's side above the lifting arm's main pivot point. It would be beneficial to fix the main tank's leak to use it instead.

I am confident that the cab and front end need to be removed in order to properly fit the tank. This might sound like a big task, but working on these older machines is actually quite simple compared to today's technology. I had to replace the rusty floor in mine a couple of years ago, without worrying about metrics, emissions, or computer chips - which is why I appreciate this classic machine. Southwick is just an hour away from me, so if you ever want to go for a ride, I'm ready.
