Genie TMZ 50 Diagnostic Software Needed

Apologies for any potential typos due to autocorrect. This aerial lift features upgraded blue boards with an LED display on the side. After fixing the boom extension, an error code 0010 appeared when operating the lower control or platform. I have tested the 6 conductor wire for continuity, disconnected the platform control, and visually inspected all boards for damage. Despite seeing test areas on the boards, I am unsure what to test for. It seems the issue lies in communication between the platform and lower CPU. I have checked for breaks in traces and wiring as well. I had hoped software could help identify communication issues between boards. The platform board receives 24v, with LED lights constantly flashing but not solid. Despite being able to start the engine from the lower control, it does not switch over to engine power. Everything functions properly in the downward direction per service manual instructions with error code 0010. I am focusing on pinpointing the fault at the component level rather than replacing an entire board. Your assistance in troubleshooting this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Paul.

To my knowledge, Genie primarily offers web GPI and tech link services, but unfortunately, they do not cover all machines. If you have the readout LCD, that is what you will use for diagnostics. The software is stored in the EPROM. If you have checked the cable and it shows continuity from the platform to the ground, then the next step would be to inspect the board. It is recommended to double-check the cable as boards can fail and may be causing communication errors. There is a possibility that the EPROM data is lost or that the board itself is faulty. Make sure to also check the ribbon cable that connects the control board to the CPU board.

Yes, all ribbon cables have been tested for continuity, including the connections. Despite replacing a faulty 2500uf capacitor, the issue persisted. To address this, I completely rewired the system, with the exception of the boom to platform connection. By replicating the software on a microcontroller, I was able to control the solenoids via relays using button overlays. While I couldn't replicate all aspects of the original software, I successfully recreated the safety features, hydraulic functions, and speed control. Communication between the platform and deck is functioning as before, without the need for a costly board replacement. I now have a fully operational lift for farm use, costing only $30. In addition, I have added features such as monitoring battery voltage and output values of the tilt sensor on the platform. Although I plan to investigate the three boards at a component level in the future, I am not optimistic about finding any issues due to the extensive sealant used in the original construction.
