Greetings, I am a new member seeking information on identifying Kenworth Log & Dump Trucks utilized by Klickitat Log & Lumber Company in Klickitat, Washington during the early 1960s. I have been told that the log truck may be a model 888, but I am unsure about the dump trucks. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Richard Wilkens.
Thank you for sharing those high-quality photos! Welcome to the RailsNW forum! Make sure to check out posts 46, 51, and 223 on the Kenworth thread for examples of Kenworth 888's that closely resemble the dump trucks in your pictures. The knowledgeable members of this forum will confirm, but it appears that's what they are. These are impressive trucks. While I'm not certain about the log truck, someone here may have information. Are you aware of the history behind these trucks, including their years and serial numbers? Is it possible that any of them are still in existence? Additionally, are there any other similar trucks out there? Lastly, do you have more photos to share? Once again, thank you, and enjoy discussing your latest interest on the forum!
I can’t confirm the exact model of the logger, but if you provide a photo of the rear dumps, it will be easy to determine if it is a 888. All 888 models were chain-driven and featured the Knuckey chain drive similar to the one used on the WW2 M-26 Dragon Wagon.
