Mysterious Component Found in My Truck - Need Help Identifying and Removing it

Question:

Today, I was tidying up my vehicle and came across a mysterious component that I couldn't identify. It had a switch on the dashboard but no longer had power going to it. The air line was disconnected, and the lines seemed to lead towards the turbo and a lever mechanism. The truck previously had a plow attached, which may have been related to this unidentified part. Should I remove it completely or simply cap off the hoses? The two hoses visible in the first picture were connected to the component shown in the second picture. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The first photo may not provide enough clarity, but the second photo shows an air solenoid that operated on switched power. Can you identify the engine type? Was there an exhaust brake installed at some point?

Sure, I'll go along with that. I have a hunch that an exhaust brake was added to it at one time.

Certain plow trucks were equipped with a specialized air intake door located under the hood to prevent snow from clogging the filter. I once had this feature on a Mack truck, which was operated by air pressure.

This Cat 3406B engine comes equipped with an engine brake, which has consistently functioned even after removal. The engine brake is located right after the turbo, raising questions about the possibility of an exhaust brake being installed in addition to the engine brake. This is the only other image available, but efforts will be made to capture a clearer picture.

It is definitely possible, especially on a truck of that age. The history of modifications done to it over the years is unknown. I have personally seen similar setups on vintage log trucks in North Idaho in the past.
