NH L220 Skid Steer: Wiring Schematic for Attachments and Custom Harness Creation

Question:

Hello, I own a NH L220 skid steer and I am in search of a wiring schematic for the wiring harness that connects to attachments. I am also interested in finding a matching plug to create a custom harness for additional equipment. Additionally, can anyone provide information on the purpose of the small wiring plug located near the operator's right foot? Thank you for your assistance.

I apologize for the delayed response. While I am unsure of the pin-outs for the 14-pin electrical plug on the boom, I recommend reaching out to Skid Steer Genius at http://www.skidsteergenius.com/. They offer a variety of plugs and adapters for 7-pin and 14-pin connectors, as well as attachments for different machines that may be able to assist you. I noticed that you also own a NH L220 like myself - a 2012 L220 with OTT that I purchased new. It seems rare to come across other L220 users on this forum, as most members are utilizing Bobcat, Cat, Takeuchi, or Case machines. However, it's worth noting that newer Cases and NH's originate from the same CNH plant in Wichita, KS. I would love to hear about your experiences with your NH L220. Feel free to share any feedback, positive or negative. Additionally, I have initiated several threads on HEF, including one you may find interesting at https://www.heavyequipmentforums.com/showthread.php?35861-User-Improvements-to-New-Holland-L220-SSL-amp-Attachments.

When purchasing from a New Holland dealer, you can find a connector that links up with the plug near the cab's right foot. This connector is essential for connecting to an EST computer in order to access codes and perform calibrations.

I recently purchased a used 2015 L220 tractor last year and I am loving it so far. I mainly use it to move round bales for my horses in the field and I also have a 3 PTO adapter to run my old snow blower. However, I have encountered a problem with blowing the 20A fuse when connecting an electric winch with a remote to the adapter plug. I am looking to connect it to the 14-pin connector to control it with the handle. Additionally, I am interested in getting OTT tracks, but the dealer mentioned that I need to change my tires, which can be costly. Another issue I am facing is that my fuel and temp gauge bars are disappearing, and I am unsure if others have experienced the same. Any advice on how to fix these issues without having to purchase a new unit for $800 would be greatly appreciated. -Walter

I'm a bit puzzled, Walter. When you mention "adapter plug (cigarette lighter)," are you referring to the 12v accessory jack on the lower part of the left pillar? Is the power for the winch connected to the 12v accessory jack, or is it for the remote control? If it's for the winch, the amp load might be too high, causing the fuse to blow. I'm unsure about the pin configurations on the 14-pin plug on the front left arm. Do you have a manual for your L220? It might be helpful to consult with Skid Steer Genius experts for assistance. Regarding your tires being too wide for tracks, if you have 10 x 16.5 tires, you'll need 2" spacers for clearance. For 14 x 16.5 tires, there may not be a solution for the required clearance. I'm unable to help with the disappearing fuel and temperature bars issue. It seems like you may need a new control panel, which could be costly unless someone on HEF has a solution.

Hey there, new member of the forum! I run an electronic store located in Northern Maine. We often encounter a common issue with machines where the solder joints on control boards and controls become fractured. Have you noticed if the display problem worsens as the unit heats up or during cold weather conditions? Currently, I am disassembling an L220 panel by gently snapping and popping the sides to ensure the female connector is released from the back. It's important to mention that these panels are backlit by a small array of LEDs located under the LCD panel. If you're experiencing a dim display, it could be due to a few of these lights not functioning properly. Cheers!
