I own a New Holland EC25 excavator that has a recent issue with a leak originating from the valve body connected to the slew motor. The leak seems to be coming from a spring-loaded check valve plug responsible for regulating the return flow to the tank. Despite replacing the O-Ring and plastic backing ring, the leak persists. It is suspected that the plug may have a small crack, although not visible to the naked eye. The dealership recommends replacing the entire valve block assembly with cartridges for a high price of $1800. Exploring other options, such as applying liquid gasket around the plug or sourcing a replacement plug from a used parts dealer, may provide a more affordable solution. Living in Manitoba, Canada, I find New Holland's parts prices to be excessive.
Would it be possible for you to share some photos? It would be really helpful for us to have a better understanding of the project at hand.
Could the leaking be coming from this valve? I might have mistaken the relief for the plug. If there is leakage from the plug, it is likely due to a crack in the valve block. While it is uncommon, there have been instances of plugs leaking due to cracks in the valve casting.
Thank you for sharing the picture, it's really helpful in locating the issue. The leakage seems to be around the plug, indicating a possible cracked valve block. I may need to remove the entire unit to inspect and repair any cracks. Your guidance is greatly appreciated.
I searched for the current price of the valve body online, but unfortunately, it appears to be unavailable. Frustrating!
Can anyone recommend a reliable supplier of pre-owned excavator components in North America?
