Troubleshooting Low Oil Pressure in 1973 Ford 4000 Tractor with Oil Pump Replacement

Hello everyone, I am seeking some advice on an issue with my 1973 Ford 4000 SU farm tractor equipped with a 172 ci, 3-cylinder diesel engine. During the summer, I noticed a decrease in oil pressure as indicated by the gauge. While I can't recall the exact previous pressure reading, I believe it was around 50psi, but had dropped to about 35psi. To address this issue, I decided to replace the pump, pressure gauge, oil, and filter. I installed a new pump #FDS3542 from Steiner Tractor, a Motorcraft #FL1A filter, and used 6 quarts of Rotella 15w40 oil with 1 quart of Lucas oil heavy duty diesel stabilizer. The new Bosch pressure gauge showed a reading of 70psi at startup, which decreased to around 65psi when warm. I used the tractor for several one-hour mowing sessions in temperature conditions ranging from the high 40s to low 50s, with the oil pressure consistently staying between 65-70psi. On a warmer day in the mid-50s, while starting the tractor to move a boat, I observed a sudden drop in oil pressure to about 35psi. Upon investigation, I discovered oil leaking from the base of the filter due to distortion and O-ring blowout. After refilling with 6 quarts of oil and replacing the filter, the pressure gauge spiked to 100psi upon startup, causing the filter to blow again. This unexpected issue has left me puzzled.

This is the original pump that was experiencing issues with low pressure output. Upon inspection, it was found that the bolt and washer are crucial components that secure the cap containing the pressure relief valve within the pump housing.

I recently installed a pump that is now malfunctioning. The cap of the pump is fully obstructed by a plate.
