The first issue I encountered with my vehicle is getting it up and running. Today, I noticed problems with both the Petrol and LPG systems. I have already ordered a fuel pump and a filter for the petrol system, as it was dry at the carburetor. However, I am unfamiliar with the LPG system and although it appears to be supplying gas, I am not certain if it is sufficient. Initially, I suspected an ignition issue due to the previous mechanics changing all the plugs, but upon inspection, all 4 plugs are sparking. I will check the timing once I locate my strobe light. Currently, the vehicle starts but only runs on 2 cylinders and requires throttle adjustment to stay running. Does anyone have experience with troubleshooting LPG systems?
A helpful suggestion on cam timing turned out to be the key to solving the issue. After realizing it was 90 degrees off, a new belt and tension from a 98-01 Ford Ranger 2.5 brought the engine back to life. Grateful for the assistance provided on this forum!
Answer: Answer: Starting issues with both systems could be caused by fuel delivery problems, ignition issues, or a combination of both. It's important to check the fuel pump, filters, spark plugs, ignition timing, and LPG system components for any faults.
Answer: Answer: To troubleshoot LPG system starting issues, you can check for gas supply sufficiency, ensure proper functioning of LPG system components like regulators and injectors, and verify that the system is correctly integrated with the engine for optimal performance.
Answer: Answer: Running on only 2 cylinders and needing throttle adjustment could indicate issues with fuel mixture, spark distribution, or engine timing. It's advised to inspect the carburetor, spark plugs, ignition system, and timing to diagnose and resolve the problem.
